Journey is my favorite metaphor for both the physical and spiritual life. After completing my education with a Master’s in English Literature from the University of Michigan and a Master’s in Theology and Literature from the University of Chicago Divinity School I went on to a career of teaching, administration and pastoral ministry before embarking on a journey, which ultimately led me to Carmel. The blessing of having met so many people of different cultures, faith traditions and life experiences over the years has been a valuable book for me. Both Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross were also physical and spiritual travelers. Now, as my physical sight diminishes…they point the way to “walk by faith and not by sight” both physically and spiritually. May they be guides along the way for you as well.
