Community

We walk the ancient path of the contemplative life, living as friends of God and friends to one another. Today our path has widened as we share our life with those seeking a community to attend to the interior life.

Experience the Journey

Our monastery is both a place apart and deeply connected to the contemporary world – and all its joy, beauty and pain.

The view from our chapel embraces the city of Reno; the distant mountains serve as a constant reminder that the Spirit beckons us forward and beyond.

The Founding Sisters of Carmel of Reno (1954) and the multi-generation of Sisters living in community today continue to innovate, adapt and evolve our way of life and journey in community with one another and the world.

Becoming Community

The rich history of our Carmelite tradition follows a long line of extraordinary women walking in the footsteps of St. Teresa of Avila.

We continue to build upon the foundation that the strong, wise and inspired women of Carmel paved for us.

Listening deeply to the Spirit, they too walked courageously into an uncertain future in tumultuous times.

Living Community

Our vision  of community has been expanded by those with whom we share the journey. Together we have been deeply woven into a tapestry of love – united in prayer, friendship and relationship.

Presence and prayer are the lenses through which we consider the past, reflect on the present and adapt to the uncertainty of the future.
